Public perception doesn't often fall favorably on those who settle lawsuits. This blowback was expected then over the infamous settlement Prince Andrew gave Virginia Giuffre (ex-Virginia Roberts) in her civil sex assault case against the royal. The accusations made by Giuffre were that when she was seventeen, she was sexually assaulted on a trio of occasions by the prince, once at the London home of Ghislaine Maxwell, at deceased Jeffrey Epstein's mansion in New York and his private island in the US Virgin Islands.
Andrew settling did not quench the public’s thirst for more sordid details of the story, nor did he help himself claiming he did not recall Giuffre during a poor showing for the Duke during a BBC interview
And now he has suffered more trouble.
Epstein’s reach
Jeffrey Epstein, who supposedly died of a suicide by hanging in New York City, while in a jail cell, was a sure ‘prince’ among sex traffickers. From evidence amassed against the man (and his girlfriend, convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell) financier Epstein as much managed to run in high society, befriending politicians and celebrities as much as engaging in procuring underage girls for his personal use and to loan these women out to friends.
Epstein’s numerous and staggering sex trafficking charges were leveled against the man a good ten years after he was convicted for soliciting prostitution from a minor. Telling the New York Post “I’m not a sexual predator, I’m an ‘offender’” the man continued to make his merry way globe-hopping and it seems, as much procuring underage girls.
He also enlisted Maxwell to aid and abet his tracking setting up famous friends with services.
One of them, supposedly Prince Andrew
The latest saga for the prince
King Charles III, Prince Andrew’s brother, has been slowly extricating the royal family and himself from his brother. Specifically unproved and never indicted, settled, no recollection; whatever has befallen Andrew seems to be minor compared to what his brother Charles has managed.
Just last week Charles made further inroads to have Andrew, and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson move out of their Royal Lodge home (although Andrew doesn’t seem to want to go). And just recently, Charles took Andrew’s private security away and the prince’s yearly allowance.
Epstein’s celebrity detritus
As court records revealed at the beginning of this year, an ‘Epstein list’ of names could have further brush-fire-like ramifications across the culture. The rundown of names includes Epstein accusers, victims, and others who as much might have had deeper ties with the man, or a very tenuous relationship. And while inclusion on a list that includes people like comedian Chris Tucker, Noam Chomsky, Bruce Willis, Bianca Jagger, and Bill Clinton does not mean someone will be accused or even assumed of wrongdoing, further ramifications of Epstein’s deeper connection in all stratus of society continued to be speculated over.
It is interesting to note that some people named on the list were only included because they warned the people they worked for (also on the list) to break ties with Epstein.
