Exhibitionism refers to the act of exposing oneself, or parts of oneself not normally seen in public, in a sexually explicit manner in a public context. Those who participate in exhibitionism usually experience some form of arousal or satisfaction from exposing private parts or performing sexual acts in public areas.

Exhibitionism is a fairly broad term as it includes everything from sexual acts performed in public to exposing oneself or another in public. Some people enjoy exposing themselves in public because of the shock value. This category might include people who enjoy acts such as streaking. Others enjoy the possibility of being seen performing a sexual act in a public place, but do not necessarily wish to be seen. Exhibitionism can be divided into two types, namely non-threatening and threatening, or what is referred to as indecent exposure.
