Metrosexual

The term metrosexual refers to a man who is fastidious about his appearance. He engages in elaborate grooming and beauty rituals as well as paying particular attention to fashion. The term is typically applied to urban heterosexual men, and is often thought to imply that a heterosexual man gives off the appearance of a homosexual man, but the term can be applied to someone of any sexual orientation.

More About Metrosexual

The term metrosexual was first employed by Mark Simpson in and article for The Independent, but it did not rise to popularity until a 2002 Salon.com article in which Simpson referred to David Beckham as "the biggest metrosexual in Britain."

Both the 1994 and 2002 articles featured definitions that described the metrosexual as a young man with disposable income living in a metropolitan area with good shopping access. Only the 2002 definition talks about sexual orientation. It specifies that regardless of the metrosexual's actual orientation, himself and his own pleasure is his sexual preference.
