Sex in the news

Actress Jenna Ortega Quits X Over AI Pics

And, once again, a celebrity is besieged by deep fake nudes…

Years ago, just about when she was fourteen, actress Jenna Ortega was tickling across X (which was called Twitter at the time) trying to mine the ubiquitous celebrity social media. But she was as much hit with unsolicited photos of male genitals as she was naughty pics of herself as a child, obviously (yet too perfectly) rendered through AI .

Finally, the “Wednesday” actress has had enough, and presently she is off X.

AI celebrity nudes

Just this year Taylor Swift had to contend with the same type of intrusion into her personal life and space when explicit photos of her were leaked first onto 4chan and then X. Before the offending fakes were removed one post was reported to have been seen over 47 million times.

In Swift’s case it seems the generation of the AI photos came from a “challenge.”

The Swift images were traced to having begun at 4chan, where users created images of the mega-popular pop star as a game to see who could bypass established measures set by AI-powered image generators. The restrictions were set to keep users doing exactly what these users ended up doing.

In more, yet benign deep fake news involving Taylor Swift’s likeness, at the beginning of this year an AI-generated video featuring the likeness of Taylor Swift was used to endorse a made-up cookware giveaway. And presently there is a controversy over pictures of Taylor Swift and her fans endorsing Donald Trump.

Trump declared across X and other media that he doesn’t have any knowledge of what this fake endorsement is about.

So many pictures, so many lies

As reported here, NSFW images, revenge porn, and surely AI deep fakes are posted with unabashed regularity. And celebrities, sport stars, politicians, and even reality TV stars can as much find themselves the victims of personal intrusions whether accosted by a fan on the street or someone rendering a fake nude of them. And unfortunately, according to this report “Deepfake images that graft a child’s face onto sexually explicit material are easily found in top image search results on leading search engines and mainstream social media platforms despite a U.S. law appearing to ban such material.”

It's no wonder than that deep fake nudes of Marvel star Xochitl Gomez, Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus (who played Disney sensation Hannah Montana while in her teens), and Jenna Ortega popped up when these women were still in their teens or just out of them.

Exploiting youth with fake nudity seems to be the flavor, or challenge of the day.
