At the advent of the Internet, porn was considered king. At that time, it was a technological wonder. It only took several minutes to download a single nudie pic on a 14K dial-up modem that hogged up all kinds of memory in a personal computer. Who was even thinking that the tots of that time would be into watching videos and having virtual sex on smartphones and other devices; let alone that there would be such a thing as Facebook? This week’s Sex Stories We Love include ways in which we, sex, porn, and the Internet have come a long way …or maybe not.
Millennials Come and Go Quickly on PornHub
You gotta love PornHub. In fact, you probably do; it’s the 67th most popular website on the Internet and its biggest group of viewers are between the ages of 18 and 34. In its latest data dive, the porn giant found that 60% of Millennials watch porn on their smart phones and tend to watch the most porn on Mondays and between the hours of 11 p.m. and midnight. This includes Millennial women, who account for 24% of that age range’s audience.
So, what are Millennials watching? According to analytics and search terms, which do not lie, Millennials watch a lot of “lesbian” porn and are more likely to be into cosplay, hentai, POV, anime, emo, and gym porn than their older counterparts. Since they’re also into big butts, it’s no surprise that Kim K. is their favorite porn performer. Although more Millennials watch porn than older adults, it doesn’t mean that they spend more time on PornHub. They come and go within nine minutes and 15 seconds – a minute and five seconds quicker than older folks. Want to know more about the porn viewing habits of the up and coming generation? Virtual Reality Threesomes
The options are growing for those who want more than porn, like lifelike porn dolls and robot hand jobs. Now, it’s possible to have a virtual reality threesome. Naughty America has just released a scene that can be streamed through headsets like Oculus Rift or Samsung Gear VR where male and female porn stars can get a rise out of the “real” stars of the show. The company is scheduling to release more videos, which will be available on a subscription basis for $8 a month. The details on what you can get and what others have gotten out of it can be found at HuffPost Weird News.
The Biggest Cover-Up of the 21st Century Uncovered and Covered
It’s been kind of hard to ignore the Free the Nipple outcry, especially on Facebook where pictures of female nipples are only allowed when they're related to surgery, breast feeding, or works of art found in museums. Even though lots of bloggers and publications have written about this topic over the past few years, none of them has gotten the point across quite like this video from Mic.com.
The best parts are when video host Liz Plank asked people on the street and even men who were shirtless in public questions like, “Do you often walk around topless or are you afraid that people will be offended by nipples?” and “You don’t feel like people are going to say, ‘Oh, he’s totally asking for it. I can totally do what I want to his body?’” Ironically, Mic.com posted a censored version of the video that’s safe for and appeared on Facebook.
Rethinking the Kinsey Scale
There are some things we hold as the truth or standard in the world of sexuality, especially in academia where the Kinsey Scale is taught as the baseline measurement for sexual orientation. It’s part of the bare necessity sex education college students get, even those that go on to earn psychology degrees.Simply put, the Kinsey Scale defines how asexual, heterosexual, or homosexual people are. However, there’s no point of the scale that marks bisexuality, and that miffs Dorothy Black of The Dot Spot.
Although she doesn’t identify as bisexual, she admits that women fascinate her even though she’s never been in a full-blown relationship with another woman. In other words, she complains that while the Kinsey scale focuses on genital attraction, it doesn’t have wiggle room for a person’s willingness to be in a relationship with a person of any particular gender. Is this something for an ambitious psychology student or professor to study and research? Probably, if it hasn’t been done already.
When Religion Was Sexy
There was once a time when prostitutes weren’t the scorn of religion and society. In ancient Sumeria, Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Greece, prostitutes were viewed as priestesses and plied their trade in temples. They were respected and sought after as sexual healers, especially by men that returned from war. These highly respected women used their female charms to heal physical, emotional, and spiritual wounds. There was no guilt or shame. In fact, men entered these temples with the full blessing of their families. So, when did this holy remedy of treating PTSD come to a stop and how can we bring it back even if it’s just to recover from the war of life? Anaiya Sophia discusses this history lesson in My Tiny Secrets.
