I'll admit, I had seen some mixed reviews for this product -- but I am so, so glad I took the leap of faith and sat on the Orion VibePad 2!

I've been intrigued by the idea of a "good girl" chair for a while, but jamming the handle of my Magic Wand between the couch cushions is the best I've been able to devise so far (unwilling as I am to modify one of my chairs or do anything complicated). The size and weight of the Magic Wand make aren't conducive to handsfree enjoyment on the couch, particularly if you are a person who squirms or wants to grind against the toy.

Enter the VibePad 2, which promises to turn anything into a good girl chair. It's true! You can put that baby anywhere: office chair, dining room table, partner's chest… it's soft and light enough that you can really put it wherever your little heart desires.

What's the Difference Between Orion VibePad and Orion VibePad 2?

The Orion VIbePad 2 builds on the popularity of the original Orion VibePad. Both are relatively flat silicone ovals with protruding ridges that down the center. Those bumps correspond to where your clit and anus are when you sit on the pad -- and they vibrate.

Where the VibePad 2 differs from its predecessor is that it has a fluttering "tongue" on the front bump and a warming feature that I found straight up delightful. It also has a rechargeable remote, instead of the battery-operated one from the original VibePad.

How Do You Use It?

I started out by putting the VibePad 2 on an armchair and sitting like normal, with my knees at 90 degrees and feet flat on the floor. It took a little adjusting to get things lined up just so. This is where I first fell in love with the warming feature.

In this position and constrained by the arms of the chair, it was a bit difficult to grind and get the party rocking, but I did put that little tongue through its paces and no one is complaining about that!

Another time I put it on my bed where I could straddle it and really put the work in.

This, my friends, was a great improvement and goes to show that like everything to do with sex, you need to experiment and tailor things to you.

Sitting still on the chair didn’t showcase the best way (in my opinion) to use the Orion VibePad 2. It worked best for me when I could grind and move with it.

I was happy enough using it flat on the bed, but you can also bunch up a pillow and prop the pad up to save your hip flexors from stretching quite so much.

Using the Orion VibePad 2 in the armchair was a pleasant three-and-a-half-star experience for me, but switching up my position and the way I moved with the toy rocketed it to a five-star fireworks extravaganza.

How Else Can I Use the Orion VibePad 2?

You could conceivably put it on someone rather than on something. Their leg or chest or back would be the most likely spots.

However, one of the great things about the Orion VibePad 2 is that you can go ahead and put all your weight on it. You can have a reasonable facsimile of queening without worrying that you are suffocating your partner or having to balance to keep from putting your full weight on them. If you are placing the pad onto a person you lose that benefit, but it could be a fun dominating activity if you want to experiment!

Other ideas:

• Bring it into the tub! The VibePad is fully waterproof.

• Flip it around and press that little tongue against your bootyhole for an ersatz rimjob.

• And, although this toy is designed for people with vulvas, a person with a penis could also enjoy the vibrations against their perineum and b-hole.

The VibePad 2 isn’t exactly whisper quiet. It's not super loud, but if there are people in the next room they are going to hear it if you don’t have some music going or something to drown out the sound. That goes with the theme of the toy, if you ask me. It just isn’t a discreet kind of thing. You can’t really use it in a less-than-obvious way. Well, maybe you can. I couldn’t!

How it Works

The Orion VibePad 2 is pretty straightforward. There is a small three button remote to operate the functions; the tongue, rear motor and vibration pattern/intensity. The power button is located on the underside of the pad (you can't turn it on or off from the remote). I plugged the pad in as soon as I snapped the pics I needed for the review as I was very eager to get at it.

There is a blinking purple light to indicate that it's charging which turns solid once it's done; it took a little over an hour. It was at this point I discovered the remote is also rechargeable and needs to be plugged in. Womp womp.

All was not lost, however, as you can still cycle through the functions by pressing the power button. Obviously, it is a bit awkward, as you need to get off the pad to press the button, but it's nice to be able to have a workaround.

You can operate the vibrations separately from the tongue and you can use the warmth all on its own.

Materials and Care

The Orion VibePad 2 is soft silicone and it's waterproof. That means it is soft and body-safe, but make sure you are using water-based lube so you don't degrade the silicone with silicone-based lube. The waterproof aspect is fun, too, if you are inclined to make bathtime a little sexier. It also means that it's easy to clean. The hole that surrounds the tongue can act as a reservoir, so a cotton swab will come in handy!

The Packaging

The package arrived in a plain (although somewhat large) brown box that was very discreet. Inside, the VibePad box is designed to be displayed in a store, not so much to store your toy long-term. It has line drawings of a naked person sitting on the toy, but they aren't incredibly graphic. The VibePad box is not what I would call "discreet," though.

The Verdict: Five Kinkly Hearts out of Five

I really like this toy. It is different than the other external vibrators I have in my collection in that it feels like a more active experience -- and that really works for me. It may take a little adjustment to make the VibePad work for your body, but in my opinion, the effort is worth it!

Other Options

Rocks Off Ruby Glow: If the tongue and warming features of the VibePad 2 don't appeal, check out the Glow. The grinding surface is textured for a different feel and the ridges are more pronounced, which may mean you don't need to prop the toy up with a pillow like some people prefer to do with the Vibepad.

Wild Flower Enby 2: The Orion VibePad 2 is excellent at what it does, but if you are looking for something with more versatility, the Enby Wildflower is a great choice.
