A squirter is a person with a vulva who can ejaculate, or "squirt" fluid during orgasm. The fluid is released by the Skene's gland, located at the base of the urethra. Although squirting is often depicted in pornography as a huge release of fluid, in reality, it can be much less dramatic, emerging as a small gush or burble. The amount of fluid can also vary. Squirting usually occurs in response to G-spot stimulation, or dual stimulation of the clitoris and G-spot. A sex toy designed for G-spot stimulation can help with this, especially for those who want to practice this sort of orgasm without a partner.

It is estimated that 10-50% of people with vulvas have experienced squirting orgasm. Those who experience squirting describe it as an intense release.

More About Squirter

Some studies have shown that squirting is just urine release during orgasm. However, those who regularly experience squirting say the liquid is clear and odorless. Other studies have found that while sexual incontinence also occurs, squirting, or "female ejaculation," involves the expulsion of a few milliliters of fluid from the Skene's gland, or female prostate. This fluid contains prostate-specific antigen. Urine does not contain this substance, which serves as evidence that something more like ejaculation may be occurring, at least in some cases. Still other studies have found that while squirting fluid includes some components that are similar to urine, it is still a unique substance.

For squirters, the exact composite of the fluid isn't as important as the experience. A squirter's partner may also enjoy the visual aspect of this type of orgasm. This is also why squirting is so popular in pornography. In 2017, Pornhub reported that the number of searches for "squirting orgasm" increased dramatically between 2013 and 2015, and that this content remained one of the most popular types of content on the site. It is notable that women were found to search for this type of content 44% more frequently than men. In Pornhub's 2021 Year in Review report, searches related to squirting also came up as a popular query. The report also flagged "how to squirt" as a key search phrase, which suggests many people may be looking for content that helps them learn how to have or perform this type of orgasm.
