Micropenis: What it is and How to Enjoy Sex if You Have One
If you’ve never heard of a micropenis, then you probably don’t have a penis. Everyone who was born with a penis at some point has worried about their dick size, specifically if it is too small. But what is a micropenis, exactly?
This is a sensitive topic, so rest assured that we are not here to judge anyone, say one size is better than others, or even that having a micropenis is a bad thing. We’ll take a look at the facts behind what a micropenis is, what options you have, and the fact that you may not have to do anything at all.
What is a micropenis?
A micropenis is pretty much exactly what it sounds like — a very small penis. But, going strictly by the numbers, a micropenis is not just a small dick.
Only a penis that is 2” under the lower end of the average size when stretched is actually a micropenis. The average dick size is about 5.25” for stretched penile length (SPL), but a micropenis has an SPL of 3.67 inches or under.
While many may worry that they have a micropenis, in reality only only 0.6% of people in the world qualify.
Causes
While dong size is normally down to genetics, micropenises are believed to be caused by a hormonal imbalance during gestation, specifically a lack of testosterone. Testosterone is one of the key hormones in the development of what we consider “masculine” traits, from body hair to penis development.
If something causes a lack of testosterone while the fetus is developing, that could cause a micropenis. The reasons for these prenatal hormone imbalances is not specifically known, but some research shows they could be due to a genetic mutation or exposure to chemicals during pregnancy.
Symptoms and Diagnosis
Doctors will generally diagnose a micropenis when someone is a baby or in the womb. This could be done with imaging, a physical exam, or blood tests to check hormone levels.
The symptoms of a micropenis are, well, having a very small penis. That could come with difficulty urinating or engaging in sexual activity (more on that later), and in some cases, it could also mean a lower sperm count.
What isn’t discussed much are the mental symptoms and the effects of living in the world with a micropenis. People with an average penis size worry about having too small of a wang, some to the point of developing small penis syndrome. People with a micropenis, or even just a smaller one, can deal with a lot of anxiety and self-hatred because of the societal idea that you need to have a hog that could kill a moose to be a “real man."
And, it’s bullshit.
Living (and Thriving) with a Micropenis
There’s no need to panic about your pecker! There are plenty of ways to have a hot and steamy sex life, even with a micropenis.
Sex is about more than penile penetration. Engage in foreplay, focus on oral and digital sex, toss some toys in the mix, use your imagination! You can find tools like dick extenders or strap-ons and treat them like a stunt double for your dick.
There are even some people who are into smaller penises and micropenises.
If you just want to get treatment for micropenis, then consult your doctor. The two most common options are hormone therapy and/or surgery. Discuss both thoroughly with your healthcare provider so you fully understand the risks.
That all being said, one of the best things you can do is work on your self-acceptance. Learn to love your body and to work with what you have. No matter your dick size, you are a sexy motherfucker!
The Bottom Line
While many worry about having a micropenis, it is both rare and nothing to be ashamed of. An actual micropenis is about 2” below the average penis size when stretched, around 3”. Even if you do have a micropenis that doesn't stop you from living a rich and full sex life.
If you do have a micropenis and feel the need to, talk to a doctor and explore your options.
Whatever you’re rocking between your legs, you can still walk with sexy confidence as long as you love yourself.
