How to Strengthen Your Erotic Imagination

Here are some informative (as well as entertaining) ways you to get your erotic creative juices flowing fast, hot, and, most of all, wild.

By now pretty much everyone’s heard that old, but still very accurate saying, that the brain is the largest sex organ you have.

But how, you may ask, can I take that particular part of my anatomy, the one already responsible for fuelling such a big part of my sex life and engorge it to supercharge my libido as well as maybe even opening yourself up to all kinds of new, sexy possibilities?

Well, my friend, the answer lies in your imagination. Here are some informative (as well as entertaining) ways you to get your erotic creative juices flowing fast, hot, and, most of all, wild.

1. Silence That Inner Critic

The biggest stumbling block most folks have when it comes to developing a healthy imagination, sexy or otherwise, is overcoming that awful little voice telling us all kinds of negative, nasty things about what we’re dreaming up.

From “you’re perverted!” to “what a lame fantasy!” it can too often dump cold water on all of our hot daydreams and possibly even lead to a case of creative performance anxiety where it keeps us from being free and open with our playfully erotic thoughts.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. It might take a bit of work, and with some people even a few therapy sessions, but that critic can be taken out behind the woodshed and shot dead.

A great tool for doing this is to remind yourself that a fantasy is just that: a fantasy, meaning that it exists only as part of your imagination and doesn’t necessarily mean it will ever be acted upon. Not only that, but everyone has them to some degree or another: wild flights of erotic fantasy that flitter across our minds conjuring up all kinds of often surreal, and frequently hot, images and scenarios.

So, unless they negatively affect your ability to carry on your day-to-day life don’t listen to that critic and instead remind yourself that it’s just a daydream, that you’re not alone in having them, and most of all it’s all part developing a good erotic imagination.

3. Look for and Play With All Kinds of Inspirations

Our familiar fantasies are fine and dandy, and more times than not get the job done to excite us, but sometimes they just feel kind of stale: the same activities, characters, situations over and over again.Yawn!

Livening them up, though, can be quite simple. To begin with, allow yourself to creative play with the world around you.

No, I’m not particularly talking about imaging your boss taking part in a balls-to-the-wall bondage and discipline themed orgy session (shudder) because that can sometimes lead to weird and distracting feelings afterward, but instead to have fun with things like your choice in media.

Like a particular book, movie, book, show … whatever? Then try to picture a character, or characters, in them frolicking in all kinds of erotic ways. But not just any frolicking, mind you, but rather push your imagination by making them be true to their character by asking yourself questions like:

“-—would Tony Stark be a top or a bottom?”

“—would Mrs. Maisel act this way or that way in bed?”

If the result is really hot for you, then you might even want to try your hand at writing it up as erotic fan fiction. Not to send anywhere but just as a way of using the act of putting pen to paper, or words on a screen and so give your imagination a different voice.

4. Indulge in Erotic Entertainment

Another great way to get your erotic imagination all hot and bothered is to try sampling erotic media you previously haven’t considered checking out.

For example, try spending some quality time with vintage videos (from the age before silicone), hentai and/or manga, kinky films, queer/bi/straight—whatever orientation you aren’t at the moment—content, explicit trans media, or even (gasp!) pick up a steamy erotic novel. For the last, if you want some hints as to some good ones I can make some personal recommendations (wink, wink).

As with many things in life you don’t know what you might like until you give it a shot, so do the same with adult entertainment. While some of them might have you scratching your head, or even eliciting a bored yawn, others might open doors to all kinds of new erotic fantasies, which then might lead to activities you might even want to try out.

5. Imaginative Exercise and Erotic Self-Knowledge

Remember that your imagination is like a muscle: the more you use it, play with it, the stronger and easier to use it will get. So let it out whenever you can and see where it takes you.

Yes, sometimes it can get weird, especially around sex, but this is also how you can get sometimes down into aspects of your sexuality you might not consciously have known about yourself.

Again, this doesn’t mean you’re A, B, or C because you find the thought of certain erotic activities to be a turn on, but if you do find yourself coming back to some things more often than others it might be worth doing some self-exploration, and deep thoughts, about them.

If you do find yourself being concerned, by all means, seek out professional help if anything to give you someone to talk to about them and what you might be feeling about them.

Again, fantasies are just that and because you might have erotic thoughts about doing something it doesn’t mean you actually want to make them happen in the real world.

But if you do find yourself becoming inspired, please take some time to look into what this reality might actually involve, should you want to go down that path. Your erotic imagination, after all, might end up becoming rich, wildly detailed, and extremely alluring but there are just some things that can’t, or should never happen in reality.

However, there still could be ways to take parts of your newly awoken erotic imagination to try out but, again, it only should be considered after spending a considerable amount of time understanding what this might actually involve.

6. Free Your Mind

Your brain—your mind, to be more exact—is truly is your greatest sex organ and by having fun with ideas like these plus many others you can absolutely strengthen your erotic imagination, and so bring even greater heat to your already hot sex life.

Not only that but by doing so you might also find entirely new aspects to your sexuality, ones that could open brand new vistas to consider and even actively explore … should you desire to, of course.

Your imagination, after all, knows no limit and by using it to fantasize about sex you might very well develop close-to-limitless erotic possibilities.
