A vaginal rejuvenation is a cosmetic surgery that restores the muscle tone and the aesthetics of the vagina by removing excess tissues and tightening the supportive structures of the vulvovaginal complex, in effort either to reduce or to reverse the effects of aging and/or childbearing and acheive a desired appearance. The procedure has the potential to cause decreased clitoral and genital sensation, and complications, such as infection, tissue adhesions, and scarring. Sometimes referred to as a "designer vagina" procedure, vaginal rejeuvenation is often marketed as having similar benefits to many cosmetic procedures— beauty, increased self-esteem, and confidence.
More About Vaginal Rejuvenation
While doctors who are members of the American Society of Plastic Surgery offer various vaginal rejuvenation procedures, the ASPS itself does not endorse particular surgeries and cautions that such surgeries may need further scientific study to determine efficacy and success. None of the vaginal rejuvenation surgeries are considered accepted, routine procedures by American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
