Backup Birth Control

Backup birth control can include any method of birth control when used with another form. Birth control methods include oral contraceptives, contraceptive foams, jellies, creams, sponges, female condoms, male condoms. diaphragms, vaginal rings, IUDs, and birth control patches. Many forms of birth control are not 100% effective, and not all protect against STIs and HIV. It is recommended that two forms of protection and prevention are used during sexual activity, especially with strangers.
