A butt plug is a type of sex toy that does exactly as the name promises: plugs the anus and rectum. It is used for sexual pleasure and to dilate the anus for anal sex.
Butt plugs come in many different shapes and sizes but most are narrowest at the top (for easy entry) then widen to their widest point before narrowing down at the base, where it is held in place by the user's sphincter muscles. Below the base you will most often find a flared bottom to keep the butt plug from moving too far into the anus.
