The pull-out method is a contraceptive measure in which a man pulls his penis out of his partner's vagina before ejaculation in order to avoid impregnating his partner. The aim is for the man to ejaculate outside and away from the vagina. There is evidence that this contraceptive method has been used for thousands of years. However, while it's simple it isn't very effective.
The pull-out method is also known as coitus interruptus.
More About Pull-Out Method
Withdrawal is perhaps the easiest contraception method besides abstinence. It doesn't involve external objects like condoms or medication like the birth control pill. Some couples may practice this method because they object to or cannot access other forms of birth control. Others may prefer it because they enjoy the sensation of skin on skin or because of problems with other methods, like side effects from the pill or an allergy to latex.
However, the pull-out method is not the most reliable. Studies estimate that this method has a failure rate of up to 28 percent, compared to the condom at 10-18 percent, the birth control pill at 2-8 percent or an IUD, which fails less than 1 percent of the time.
