More About Sexual Reassignment Surgery
In a sexual reassignment surgery, the natural appearance and functioning of an individual's sexual reproductive organs are removed or manipulated to reflect the sex that the individual identifies with. Individuals that undergo such surgery are often referred to as trans or transsexed individuals. A sexual reassignment surgery might include a penectomy, vaginoplasty, orchiectomy, metoidioplasty, or a phalloplasty. The goal of such surgery is to align the individual's physical appearance with that of their sex or gender identity.
