A transgender man refers to an individual that is assigned female at birth, but who identifies as a male. This includes both individuals that have not undergone gender affirmation surgery and those who have.
The term transgender man is not synonymous with transsexual man although it is often used interchangeably. Transgender is a term that encompasses all individuals that experience a misalignment between their birth assigned biological sex and their gender identity. A transgender individual may or may not choose to undergo hormone treatment or sexual affirming surgeries to align biological sex with gender identity.
