Orchid Sex Position

Oral sex Standing

The Orchid sex position is a standing oral sex position. While the angles lend themselves best to oral sex on a vulva, this position can also be used for rimming and penile oral sex too.

Illustration of the Orchid sex position

To get into this oral sex position, the receiving partner comes into a handstand with their back to a wall and spreads their legs wide. The giving partner stands facing them and tips themselves forward perform oral sex. The giving partner can also help support the receiving partner by wrapping their hands around the receiver's buttocks.

More About Orchid Sex Position

If you're looking at this sex position and feeling impressed (or intimidated), don't worry. So are we! There aren't many sex positions out there that require a handstand, but the Orchid is one of them. (The Standing Wheelbarrow is another!) Not only is it a "wow!" moment begging for "pics or it didn't happen," but it can also be a (literal) head rush for the receiving partner. Inverted positions can cause the blood to rush to the head, amplifying the intensity of the pleasure they're receiving.

Keep in mind, most people will not be able to safely pull off the Orchid sex position, and that's okay! There are hundreds of other sex positions that are less likely to cause injury and allow you to enjoy the amazing oral sex.

Modifying the Orchid Sex Position

There are a few ways to modify the Orchid sex position to make it more accessible to people:

No matter what modifications you choose, ensure that the receiving partner feels comfortable, stable, and able to hold the position before adding the giver into the equation. While handstands are easy to exit with enough space, they'll be much harder to exit quickly with another body in the way. The last thing we want is for the handstandee's hands to give out, leaving them to fall onto their head.

Even if the Orchid sex position can be achieved, it won't be a sex position for long, and it probably won't lead to orgasm for the receiver. Focusing on holding a handstand can be a pretty big distraction to getting there!

Instead, use Orchid as a pitstop on your pleasure journey with a plan to move to another more comfortable sex position if orgasmic pleasure is on your to-do list for today.

The Orchid transitions well to virtually any other sex position, but we suggest transitioning to a sex position that allows the receiving partner to sit or lay down for a bit. They're likely to be a bit lightheaded after being upside down for so long!
