Takedown Position

The Takedown sex position offers a unique take on "cooperation" that isn't usually found in your favorite sex positions. Equal parts cardio workout and orgasm machine, the Takedown sex position requires a lot of the couple - but gives back in feelings of intimacy - and some unique views!

To get into the Takedown Position, the receiving partner should lie down on their back on a surface - and then bend their knees to place their feet flat on the floor. The receiving partner then squats on top of the penetrating partner with their lower back nicely supported by the divot between the penetrating partner's thighs. While handholding is optional, it works fantastically for helping the receiving partner stay balanced while in this precarious position!

More About Takedown Position

Teamwork is the name of the game for the Takedown position. The bended knees of both partners mean that both halves of this couple will be expected to take on some of the movement - and ensuring you're both synchronized will make the sex position feel as pleasurable as possible.

To get the most out of the Takedown position, both partners will need powerful quads and glutes - and knees that enjoy lots of bending under body weight. The receiving partner needs to be able to move up and down while the penetrating partner needs to be able to thrust into the receiving partner. For some, this may not be a workable sex position that supports their bodies - and that's okay! There are hundreds of other sex positions that can honor the bodies you're in right now - and allow you to explore intimacy with one another.

Unless you're dedicated to leg day on the regular, this won't be a sex position that many people can sustain for long periods of time. Enjoy the novelty of the position while it lasts - and don't be afraid to transition into a modified version of Takedown to better focus on the pleasure - and not your quaking thighs. The Takedown position easily transitions into the Pole Position, High Drive, Female Superior Position, and even the Good Spread Position (especially great if your muscles are entirely shot!)

If this is just one of the few sex position adventures you've gone on, you might have a sex swing in your home. If that's the case, an easy modification for the Takedown position is to use the sex swing to your advantage - and move into the Swinging Cowgirl position. Not only does this relieve some of the strain on the knees, but it also uses the rebound of each thrust to reduce the amount of work that the two of you need to do. (Sex swings are fantastic for experimenting with new positions!)

While the Takedown position is friendly to larger bodies and strap-on sex, we recommend caution if there's a large weight disparity between the receiving partner and the penetrating partner. Openly communicate and feel free to adjust the exact positioning of your bodies -- if the partner on top is much larger than the penetrating partner. If the penetrating partner is finding their tailbone pressed uncomfortably into the ground with the additional weight, take this sex position to a plushy surface and ask the partner on top to support more of their weight.

While most sex positions really benefit from a soft surface or sex furniture for comfort, the Takedown position is one of the few positions where a sort surface isn't nearly as important. With the penetrating partner's bodyweight laid out flat along the entire body, they may be comfortable doing this sex position on a hard surface like tile or hardwood floor. That can make this position a great go-to when furniture is sparse - or you "gotta have it now!". If the receiver's bodyweight on top of the penetrating partner is causing discomfort, though, don't forget about the power of pillows underneath the penetrating partner's hips. While the Takedown position is friendly to larger bodies and strap-on sex, we recommend caution if there's a large weight disparity between the receiving partner and the penetrating partner.
