Sex in the news
Sex Gone Viral 3: This Week’s Salacious Stories
The 2024 Paris Olympic Games has been taking up lots of this week’s news cycle. So, for this third installment our Sex Gone Viral series we start with some fun and flirty items from the games, then get into meatier stuff.
Olympic PornHub searches
PornHub told TMZ this week that the mega porn tube site has enjoyed a “surge in searches for the term Olympics," in the past few weeks. The numbers reveal a 4,876 percent uptick since the start of the games, with searches for the word athlete up 505 percent.
To be clear, from Simone Biles to Alexandre Lacazette no athlete in the Olympics is featured in any videos on PornHub.
And yet..
Packin’ while swimming
Keeping to Olympic stories; two swimmers made a splash (sorry, not sorry) this week with what they were wearing, and how well they were wearing it.
As Kinkly reported, Dutch swimmer Arno Kamminga supposedly showed himself in fine and some say, revealing form at one of his meets. Arno’s tight swim pants, covering him from waist to ankle, were flesh-colored and nearly see-through, giving the illusion that he was naked. On closer inspection — which plenty of X viewers managed — the tight Speedo under those pants garnered lots of positive comments.
And in further swim news, French diver Jules Bouyer has a whole lot of new fans, who shared a lot of pictures of him in his patriotic Speedo. Apparently, the Paris arm of Ford Models was already aware of Bouyer’s attributes; he is signed to the agency.
Hawk Tuah for charity
At this point, we should basically call this column “Hawk Tuah Girl Updates" since Hailey Welch just keeps dominating headlines.
This week Hailey did something to give back to her community.
In this video, she says: “Everybody in the comments say I have fifteen minutes of fame, if that’s the case I’m gonna do something good.”
And she does, driving her flatbed down to the local animal shelter to deliver products and taking time to walk through the facility. Take notes future viral stars!
Jabba’s favorite slave girl
On the heels of the end of the mega San Diego Comic-Con 2024, one of fandom's most iconic, and decidedly provocative pieces was sold at an auction this week. The gold bikini-style slave girl costume Carrie Fisher wore as Princess Leia at the beginning of 1983’s “Return of the Jedi,” while lying too close to Jabba the Hutt (eww that tongue!), sold for $175,000.
We're going to get serious for these last couple of stories. Though Sex Gone Viral usually focuses on lighthearted, fun stories about sex in the news, we at Kinkly know it's just as important to talk about the dark sides of sex, like when people use their power to sexually exploit others.
Mentions of human trafficking and sexual misconduct ahead. Please take care of yourself, if you choose to read.
Human Trafficking At Comic-Con
Speaking of San Diego Comic-Con, a human trafficking sting operation at the weekend gathering of science fiction, fantasy, gaming, and anime faithful ended with twelve arrests, and almost the same number of victims rescued.
Though human trafficking is often erroneously used to demonize the adult entertainment industry, sex work, as well as consensual sex and relationships, it is a very real problem in the U.S. and around the world, as this event reminds us.
UK prison guard arrested for on-the-job misconduct
UK prison guard and OnlyFans creator Linda De Sousa Abreu admitted to misconduct after a video was leaked of her having sex with a male inmate at Wandsworth prison. The five-minute clip shows De Sousa Abreu and the prisoner in a tryst that occurred over the past weekend, authorities say.
After calling the prison and saying she wouldn’t be returning to work, De Sousa Abreu attempted to flee to Madrid. She was arrested at Heathrow, and later released on bail.
Linda De Sousa Abreu has a date to return to court for her sentencing on November 7th.
That's it for this week, but we're sure to have lots more to share next Friday!
