Sex Stories We Love: Past Partners, Sexually Empowered Women and Penis First-Timers

Most people have preconceptions about sex that are far from accurate. This week’s Sex Stories We Love takes a look at a few of these things about sex and sets the record straight in really wacky - and really serious - ways. Check out some of the stories about sex that we found on the Web this week.

Do You Really Want to Know What You’re Like in Bed?

I can’t tell whether Emily Reynolds is a raging egomaniac, neurotic, crazy or unbelievably brave for contacting her former partners and asking them how she was in bed. She didn’t just ask them to rate her on a scale of one to 10, she asked them pointed questions about things like her seduction, kissing and oral techniques. She even asked if they’d do it again.

Personally, if an ex-partner sent me a questionnaire like that, I’d probably think it’s creepy and send it to the trash bin. But she got several rather frank and forthright answers - some of them good and some that put the brutal in brutal honesty. I also don’t think I’d want to know what others in my past thought of me since I keep my past in the past. However, I thought it was fascinating in a weird voyeuristic way and one of the most interesting sex stories that I’ve read in a long time.

Conundrums of Sexually Empowered Women

If I believed most articles on the female point of view on giving blow jobs, I’d think most women thought oral sex was a real drag. "Oh, my mouth is killing me!" "How long is this going to take?" "Stop pressing my head down in your crotch!" Bridget Phetasy isn’t one of those women. She believes that giving blow jobs can be empowering, especially with the right partner and when it’s on her terms. She also addresses the entanglement that hummer-loving women often find themselves in: women are either slut-shamed or prudified. Personally, I think she gives a rather refreshing point of view on the magic of blow jobs, and one that men, in particular, can learn from.

In The Telegraph, one guy (and hopefully lots more) got some very valuable advice on dealing with a girlfriend he thinks gets too excited and too wet during sex. Like this is a problem? One would think that a woman like this should be every man’s dream. Luckily, he asked Dr. Petra Boynton what she thought of his concerns. She had lots to say about this topic, including: "…getting so wet is most likely a sign that she likes you, that you are turning her on, that she is relaxed and is enjoying sharing pleasure with you. Are you able to relax and share this with her? Can you allow yourself to be turned on by her excitement?"

Don’t Get Your Sex Education From the Movies

There are several mainstream movies that are just as, if not more, hot and lustful as porn. But like porn, Walker Thornton thinks that a lot of those movies aren’t very good representations of real people, real world sex.

"The love scenes are written from a male point of view, because we all know that the vast majority of women aren’t going to have an orgasm without any foreplay whatsoever," Walker says in a recent blog post. "Men want to see themselves penetrating a woman; they want to see the woman in full enjoyment, and satisfied, by intercourse. It’s reassuring. For the man … Women need more out of a sexual encounter. Women take longer to warm up and feel arousal- and we need touch. We need attending to."

Speaking of the differences between porn/movie sex and real-life sex, even feminist porn producer Lucie Blush will tell you there’s a difference. As gorgeous as she is, she believes that the epitome of sexiness isn’t relegated to youthful Size 0 beauties with 34DD tits or men with rippled muscles and extra-long dicks. Sex should be hot for everybody and every body. She collected a bunch of photos of people of all shapes and sizes having real, hot sex to prove her point in a recent blog post.

Why It’s Confusing to Know What Rape Is

There can’t be enough articles about rape and consent. Yet for some, processing that information can be confusing. Why? According to Naughty Reenie, she, like many of us, has come into the adult world with messages and conditioning that is based on ignorance and misconceptions. And that made it difficult for her to determine whether she had been raped. Her recent piece aims to examine the issue - and set the record straight.

First Time with a Penis

I don’t know what prompted Mélanie Berliet to ask 12 women what they thought when they saw a penis for the first time for her article in Thought Catalog. It sounds like the kind of question that might pop up after a few too many glasses of wine on a girls’ night out. Actually, it turned out to be a great question. As a woman who’s been an adult for a few decades, I thought the retrospective stories were charming and amusing. Enjoy!
