Sexy Stories We Love: Feminist Porn, Internet Discrimination and a Plea to Save Sex Ed

by Kinkly
Every week, we pore the Web for the best stories in the world of sex. This week, it’s feminist porn, Internet discrimination and a plea to save sex ed. Check it out.

Feminist Porn Awards Announces Nominees, Makes Me Miss All My Deadlines

Sorry to my editors, I won’t be making deadlines this week. I should really just take this week off every year, because when the nominees for the Feminist Porn Awards come out, I usually spend the rest of the day week watching all the nominations. What's feminist porn? It's pornography made by and for women, and it aims to show real desire, sexual interaction and orgasm. Overall, its goal is sexually empower both its viewers - and the performers who do all the hard work.

If you're interested, you might also want to check out the Feminist Porn Conference that follows the awards for some great dialog about ethical pornography.

Internet Companies Take a Swipe at "Adult" Content ... Again

The Internet might be a treasure trove of pornography, but most major Internet companies are pretty ambivalent when it comes to having anything to do with it. Or even just accepting it and allowing it to exist. So, we probably shouldn't be surprised that when alternative and queer porn performer Andre Shakti used Fundly to launch a campaign to send her to the Feminist Porn Awards, Fundly and WePay refused to give Shakti her money, stating she was using it for adult-related content. They are, however, still taking donations in her name. This should be an interesting one to see played out.

"Tranny Awards" Gets a Much Needed Makeover

While they may have started as a joke, the "Tranny Awards" are now a trusted source for the recognition of outstanding trans* porn. Removing the offensive term "tranny" from the title will help make the awards, and their recipients, gain more respect and shine a positive light on this sexy niche. (What's wrong with "tranny"? Find out in Gay, Lesbian, Queer, Pan, Trans ... What's In a Name?)

Support Sex Ed

With sexual education being kept out of schools, Scarleteen is one of the only sources for comprehensive sexual education for teenagers. Unfortunately, its recent fundraising campaign fell flat and now they’re going to have to shut down - unless we help! Can you give a buck (or 20) for sex education?
