More About One-Column Tie

A one-column tie, also known as single-column tie, is a basic tie (usually the first most people learn) that's meant to tie one "column" (or limb) to something else. You can use it to tie wrists and ankles to bedposts and chair legs for example.

It's a good tie because, when done properly, the knots will not tighten if you pull on the rope. It makes it a safer tie to use in situations where a bottom will be moving or struggling a lot.

The one-column tie, however, is not suitable to tie two limbs together. It would be too easy for the bottom to slip out of the rope. If you want to tie two limbs (like two wrists or two ankles) together, use a two-column tie.
